Big Girl Bed, Baby Boy Crib

 Well we did it. We made the transition from crib to bed. Since before Connor was born I have been thinking of making this transition, but after much thought (and a bit of procrastination) decided we would make the transition AFTER Connor was here. Well it took about 6 weeks but we finally did it. When Connor was about 3 weeks old we started to ask Olivia if she would like to sleep on a big bed or in her crib. The novelty of the big bed was not as cool when she found out she had to stay on the bed or be in trouble and from there on out she opted for the crib. Well about a week ago, we went to dinner, and arriving home late we laid Miss O down in her clothes. About 30 minutes later, we realized we had left the wipes in the nursery and Connor was due for a change. Adam slipped in the room to fetch the wipes-and O was sitting up in bed...coloring...EVERYWHERE. "The world is my canvas." Literally. He called me in and there was her crib pink sheets were now blue, green and red, and the crib sides a perfect Picasso. (we should have taken a picture, fail). We forgot that while at the resturant she had been given crayons, which found their way into Miss O's pocket and then tragically on to her crib and bedding. Well, this was her last night in the crib. We informed her the crib was not a coloring book, and because it was colored on it was now "broken" and she would have to sleep on the big girl bed. She was placed on the bed while we scrubbed the crib. She knew what she had done was not good-and had a very penatant face. Each time we would look over to make sure she was still on the bed while we cleaned she would look up at us like a dog with it's tail between it's legs and lay back down. As we left the room she did get quite upset, but two short and simple reminders that it was bed time, and this was her new bed and she was out. The next day when nap time took place on the bed again she only got off the bed once. That night once again, and that was it! From this point on she has stayed in bed happily. 

She spent about a week on the blow up mattress while I went back and forth about getting a Twin bed or a toodler bed. As you can see (below) we opted for the toddler bed finally. It was the most frustrating thing to build, but I guess that's what you get for $50. I almost did the whole thing myself. When Olivia saw it for the first time she was so elated! She jumped on the bed and stated, "Livy's bed!", then gathered all her stuffed animals and blankets and proceeded to make a nest. She played on the bed for quite some time, and was excited to sleep in it that night. 

Knock on wood, but she has stayed in it through the night thus far (well she has fallen out twice) and in the morning she waits in it patiently for us to come and get her out of bed. ANGEL BABY! She still sleeps from about 7 to 7 give or take, and takes a 2-3 hour nap between 10-1:30 usually.

 So now Connor has an actual crib to sleep in! Though he hasn't slept in it yet, we will probably make the transition here soon. Man this little guy is cute. He sleeps about all day, it seems to be significantly more than Miss O ever did. He usually goes to bed around 11, and wakes up between 4-5am to eat and that stretch (though not always there) keeps me alive. :) During the day he sleeps a ton too, and then is most awake from about 5-10pm. He is quickly outgrowing his 0-3mos clothes. Wears a size 1 diaper. He is starting to coo and grin a little more too. It's so fun to see their little personality start to blossom. He is quite dark, and people always ask if I let him sit in the sun too long. No. I do not tan my baby, he's just got my family's coloring and Olivia has her dad's so when you put them side by side it may look like it, but let it be known it's a lie! Tan my baby...who do you think I am!?

 Mom Brothers found this cute bedding at a yard sale before we even were pregnant (or maybe we were just BARELY pregnant) Anyways, it's super cute and has an extra sheet. ALWAYS a must with little ones.
