We need to start this series of posts by saying thank you to Mom and Dad Clayton for showing us around and arranging such fun filled days! Our trip lined up perfectly with their time off for the holiday between semesters. We also arrived just after the roads and city reopened after a freak snow storm shut everything down. Look in the background of some of these pictures from the first few days and notice how much snow is still on the ground. We have nearly 2000 photos from our trip combined with Mom's and some of the time stamps on the two cameras were out of sync, but we'll try to keep to keep the order of events mostly accurate and share only the highlights.
Just after getting off the plane and finding Connor's car seat, we met Mom and Dad and headed up to Jerusalem. It's about like driving to Park City, just a little more gradual ascent.
The view from the Jerusalem Center is amazing. The temple mount is visible from almost everywhere around the old city.
We were pretty exhausted from the long day in Paris and very little sleep over a 48 hour period that we had to crash for a few hours while Mom and Connor got acquainted.

We first entered the old city through Damascus gate which leads into the Muslim quarter. This picture was taken atop the Austrian Hospice (a great place for a bathroom break).
Just up the road are the pools of Bethesda; some of the most amazing ruins in the old city.
You get to actually walk around in the ruins! Look at all the icy snow.
So professional
After leaving the Pools of Bethesda, we noticed a sign on the wall for one of the "Stations of the Cross" but the door was closed. A friendly shop keeper invited us into a little mosque, which we didn't think we were allowed into. This is the view from the window looking onto the temple mount.

Our first evening was the student's last evening and we all were treated to the most amazing sunset.
The sunset kept getting prettier with time.

WooHoo! I'm so excited to see pictures from your trip! I love your panorama picture of the view from the Jerusalem Center. It is so neat that you visited such an amazing place and that Mom was able to finally meet Connor!
What a unique and beautiful view of the Dome you had! Can't wait to see more!
