A friend had this posted on facebook and I thought it was too good to not share with all of you. For those of you who don't know the words to the song they are listed below. Valjean sings them over Marius' body at the site of the battle in the Musical, Les Miserables. It has always been one of my favorite productions.
As I have been watching the news and hearing about all the travesties that afflict the world I thought this song really captured what we want for all those who are lost in battle. I've never lost someone close to me to war/conflict/drugs, but my heart goes out to those who have. <3
God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there
He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.
Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy
You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there
He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.
Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy
You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

A great musical, a BEAUTIFUL arrangement and the book is even better.
Loved this, Jessica. I was really touched by their interpretation of this stunning melody.
